Although the information on package size, pickup time, closing time, etc. will not be printed on the shipping label, DHL Express requires this information for their planning. Therefore, BC must provide information on package size, pickup time, closing time, etc. so that API requests from BC can be accepted and processed by DHL Express. If this information is incomplete or missing, it will lead up to an error message during API requests and the shipping label cannot be printed.
If the height, width, length, and weight have already been defined in the item attributes (see Master Data Preparation), only one step is left: Fill the fields under Properties.
(1) Fill in the pickup time. The user can define a desired pick-up time at his convenience. The pickup time informs DHL Express at which time the packages are ready to be picked each day.
Attention: Sometimes requests may not be accepted by API because of an improper combination of pickup time and shipping date. For example, the work date of Business Central is 6/2/2023. The current time is 1 pm. The pickup time is set from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in DHL Setup. The shipment date in the sales order is 6/2/2023. In this case, the request will not be sent successfully because the driver may have already picked up the items before 1 p.m. That is to say, the shipping label can only be generated before the pickup time. The request can be sent if the shipment date in the sales order is adjusted to 6/3/2023 or another date later than 6/3/2023. It will also work if the pickup time is redefined to a time after 1 p.m., for example, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
(2) Fill in the closing time. The user can define a desired closing time at his convenience. The closing time informs DHL Express at which time the warehouse will be closed and the pickup is not possible anymore.
(3) Fill in the Default Sender Email. DHL Express will contact the warehouse via this email if there is any feedback.
(4) Choose return service
The user can also fill in the properties on the DHL Express Setup page. In case the item attributes are not defined, the length, width, height, and weight of the package under properties will be forwarded to DHL Express.
