Setup Introduction

Since every shipping agent has a shipping management system, there is no universal service setup for all shipping agents in Business Central (BC). The service setup for each shipping agent must be done individually. The purpose of conducting a service setup for the shipping agent is to ensure the information from BC can be accepted and processed by the corresponding shipping agent. In this way, the correct shipping label can be generated.

To complete the setup in BC for shipping agents, users must do some preparation on the shipping agents´ side. For example, register a user account, gain an API Key, etc. The preparation varies depending on the requirements of each shipping agent. Meanwhile, users must also gain related information from shipping agents. Such as product codes, product content codes, etc. Again, the information needed varies depending on the requirements of each shipping agent.

• During the setup process, the users must follow the setup regulations of each shipping agent strictly. Otherwise, the shipping agents cannot process the requests from BC and the shipping label cannot be printed.
• The very first setup must be done manually. After that, the setup can be exported and imported using the standard Microsoft Configuration Packages function.
• In rare cases, the shipping label cannot be created because of the capacity problem of the servers of the shipping agents. For example, the test requests do not have a high priority. The servers of the shipping agents may not process them in pick hours if the full capacity has been reached. If the setups are done correctly, the users must wait until the servers have capacity again.
